After a mixed week of weather, high summer will be back for one day on Saturday, with blazing sunshine and temperatures up to 28 Celsius, weather bureau KNMI said.

There may be some thunderstorms in the evening and by Sunday, the temperature will plunge, reaching no higher than 19 Celsius with sunshine and showers, the KNMI said.

The rest of the week will be coolish, with temperatures around 20 Celsius, and with  some rain and cloud. The sunniest day looks set to be Tuesday.

The KNMI’s long term forecast states that the temperature will be around or below the seasonal average, well into September.
