The Perseids meteor shower is visible in the Netherlands in the coming days, but the weather and full moon may stop star gazers enjoying the spectacle.

The best night to see the shower will be on Tuesday, August 13, when up to 60 shooting stars could be seen an hour.

However, the meteors are best seen in a dark sky and a full moon on August 15 will cause a lunar glare on August 12 and 13, when the spectacle peaks.

‘But the Perseids are rich in bright meteors and fireballs, so it will still be worth going out in the early morning to catch some of nature’s fireworks,’ Nasa said.

The Perseids meteor shower occurs every year between July 17 and August 24. The Perseids are made up of tiny space debris from the comet Swift-Tuttle.

The weather may also spoil the view. The latest forecast is for cloud with sunny spells and showers, well into next week.
