Two passenger planes have collided at a gate at Schiphol, report Dutch media on Tuesday.

The planes belonged to easyJet and KLM and the collision apparently happened during pushback, when one plane is being pushed from the gate by a smaller vehicle.

Passengers were reportedly moved to other planes to continue their journeys, and the airport is understood to be investigating, reports NU.nl.

This is the second collision at a gate at Schiphol this year. The last occurred in February when two KLM planes collided, one of which is also understood to have been in the process of being pushed back. An official investigation is ongoing.

Last week, the government announced that Schiphol would be allowed to run another 40,000 flights a year, on top of its current maximum of 500,000, if it fulfilled certain conditions.

DutchNews.nl has contacted Schiphol airport for a comment.
