Storm warning raised to code orange for much of the Netherlands
The KNMI weather bureau raised its weather warning to code orange for Limburg and eastern parts of the country on Friday afternoon, saying the storm will increase in intensity as it passes over the land.
Winds of up to 100 kph, coupled with heavy rain and hail are set to hit the Netherlands for the third time this week. On Tuesday and Wednesday, evening storms brought down trees and disrupted traffic nationwide.
Friday’s storm will have moved away by mid evening and the skies will clear for a time, the KNMI said.
Saturday it will be mainly overcast with some rain in the north, but the south has the chance of some sunshine with temperatures in the low 20s. The picture is similar for the rest of the long holiday weekend, the KNMI said.
