Dutch women football players to earn the same as men in 2023

June 4, 2019

The Dutch women’s national football team will get the same pay as members of the men’s team in four years time, the Dutch football association has decided.

The first substantial pay rise will come into effect after the World Cup and will run up to and including the 2021 European championships in England. Between 2021 and 2023 the payment will rise again until it reaches the level of the men’s team, the KNVB said.

‘This is a great step forward … and a fine nod towards our current group,’ said Dutch player Vivianne Miedema.

The Dutch women’s team, current European champions, are about to take part in the World Cup which starts on June 7. The Dutch are in Group E alongside Cameroon, Canada and New Zealand.
