Did you follow a partner to NL or come for love? ICAP needs your help
Did you move to the Netherlands when your partner got a job or was posted here, or did you come here for love? If so, ICAP needs your help.
We all know someone who has moved to the Netherlands to be with a partner and has struggled with visa requirements, or who is still trying to slot into the jobs market.
ICAP, the International Community Advisory Platform, is trying to find out more about the experiences of the partners of people posted to the Netherlands when it comes to finding work.
Did you give up a career to move here and did you find it easy to get back onto the career ladder? Is it important to speak Dutch in your field or is good English more of an issue? The answers to these questions and more will help policymakers help new arrivals find their feet.
ICAP was founded two years ago and is already having an impact. The results of the housing survey have been used to direct Amsterdam’s strategy on housing international workers and were very recently the subject of much debate at a property investors’ conference on housing for young people.
The surveys continue to help change perceptions of the international worker and your help was instrumental in winning changes to plans to amend the 30% ruling last year.
The results of ICAP’s healthcare survey have also been widely shared among officials in both Amsterdam and The Hague and used to shape policy to boost understanding of the Dutch system.
The more people respond, the better the results are, so do please spread the word and pass the link to anyone you think would fit the bill.
The results of the survey will be published in the early autumn.
