Dutch mission in northern Iraq to resume as ‘soon as possible’
The training of local forces in northern Iraq by Dutch soldiers will resume as soon as possible, the deputy head of the Dutch diplomatic mission to Baghdad said on Thursday.
The suspension announced earlier this week was in accordance with increased security measures ordered by the coalition leadership, army chief Eric Strating said on Twitter.
In addition, Strating said that contrary to media reports, the Dutch embassy in Baghdad and the consulate in Erbil are not evacuating and remain open as usual.
On Wednesday, the US ordered all non-essential government staff to leave Iraq right away amid escalating tensions with Iran.
