Sunday was the first officially warm day of the year
Sunday was the first officially warm day of the year, with the temperature topping 20 degrees at the weather station in De Bilt, near Utrecht.
In coastal regions the temperature also reached as high as 19 degrees, weather bureau Weerplaza said. The first officially warm day of 2018 also fell on April 7.
The summery temperatures led to heavy traffic on roads to the bulb fields and the Keukenhof gardens as well as to the beaches.
Monday will also be sunny and warm, but there could be a few showers in the far south. The rain will return again on Tuesday, particularly in the south and temperatures will be sharply lower, at no more than 10 degrees.
Wednesday will be a sunny day everywhere but it will be chilly for the time of the year.
