Dutch swimmer Ramoni Kromowidjojo picked up her second gold medal of the world swimming championships in China on Friday, winning the 50 metres butterfly in 24.47, just outside the world record.

On Thursday, Kromowidjojo, took the gold in the 100 metres freestyle.

After Friday’s victory, the 28-year-old said it had been the perfect race. ‘I turned well, it was a good finish and I was closer to the world record,’ she said. ‘That is always in the back of my mind.’ The world record of 24.38 was set by Therese Alshammar in 2009.

Today’s victory was Kromowidjojo’s 14th world title but her first in the butterfly event.
