This year’s meteorological autumn is the sunniest on record and the fifth driest since the beginning of last century, weather bureau Weerplaza says. The meteorological autumn ends on Saturday.

In addition, the 19 degree temperature recorded on November 6 was the warmest November day ever recorded, weather forecaster Wilfred Janssen said.

Less than half the average amount of rain has fallen between September and the end of November – 115 millimetres compared with 240 mm in an average year. The average temperature was some 0.6 degrees higher at 11.2 degrees.

The wet and windy weather, with daytime temperatures hovering around 12 degrees, is set to continue well into December, according to the KNMI weather bureau. There may, however, be some sun on Friday.
