The warm early autumn weather is set to continue up to Thursday at least, but rain will return by Friday, weather forecasters say.

On Tuesday it will be sunny in most of the country, although there may be some cloud in the north west. Temperatures will reach as high as 28% in the south, but a more modest 22 degrees in the north and in coastal areas.

The summery weather will return on Wednesday and Thursday but there will be more cloud about. Temperatures will remain around 23 degrees both days.

On Friday, however, rain is likely and the temperatures are unlikely to top 20 degrees. The weekend will be cooler again, weather forecaster KNMI said.

The KNMI’s long range forecast says there is a 60% chance of dry, sunny weather heading into October but that temperatures will be around normal for the time of year.
