A 32-year-old woman has been killed and a man aged 30 serious injured in a fire in what is described as a shed where they were living in Etten-Leur, near Breda.

A two year old boy was also injured in the fire.

The emergency services were called at around 5am and the fire is said to have spread quickly, causing the evacuation of several nearby homes.

The shed, owned by a family member, measured three metres by five and had been fitted out as a temporary home, fire officers told local broadcaster Omroep Brabant.

Officials are now trying to determine how the fire started.
