Dutch student dies after car hits group of tourists in Malta
A Dutch student has died after a car ploughed into a group of tourists in Malta.
The 19-year-old, named as Tim, died in the Mater Dei hospital following the accident in the coastal resort of St Julian’s on Friday. Three other Dutch visitors, two Britons and two Croats were injured.
The 20-year-old driver of the car was arrested. Local media reported he was under the influence of alcohol and had lost control of the vehicle.
Omroep Brabant said it had not publicised Tim’s surname at the request of his family. He had been studying business economics at the University of Tilburg.
