Hot, sunny weather continues over the weekend, but fire risk is increasing
The sunny, dry weather is set to continue well into July, with no more than a 40% chance of rain in the period from July 6 to 13, the KNMI weather bureau said on Friday.
The hot sunshine will continue over the weekend and into next week, with temperatures of up to 28 degrees in the south, the KNMI said. By Tuesday or Wednesday there will be more cloud around, but it will remain hot and dry.
The drought is now causing problems for farmers and nature reserve rangers, as the risk of health fires increases, particularly in parts of Brabant, Zeeland, Gelderland and Noord-Holland.
The provinces are now listed as ‘phase 2’ in the terms of fire risk, and people are being warned to be extra alert when out in the countryside.
