Paramedics deliver baby by C-section in bakery after mother suffers cardiac arrest
A baby has been delivered by caesarean section in a bakery after its mother suffered a cardiac arrest in the shop.
Zeeland police said the women fell ill in the Risseeuw bakery in Hulst at around 10.30am on Monday. Three ambulance crews resuscitated the mother and delivered the child, supported by two teams of firefighters and police who sealed off the area.
The baby was flown to hospital by helicopter while the mother travelled by ambulance. Emergency services and medical staff did not disclose details of their condition on privacy grounds.
The bakery remains closed but the surrounding streets, Absdaalseweg and Stationsweg, have been reopened to traffic.
