Early summer weather expected to last until Ascension Day

The warm, sunny weather is expected to last until Wednesday before breaking just in time for the Ascension Day holiday, forecasters have said.

Temperatures could climb as high as 29 degrees in parts of Noord-Brabant and Limburg, around 10 degrees above the average for early May, according to Weeronline.

Nearly all the country will enjoy unbroken sunshine and daytime temperatures of 25 to 28 degrees on Tuesday and Wednesday, except on the Wadden Islands where the sea breeze will keep the thermometer down to the low twenties.

However, storms on Wednesday evening and a stiff north-westerly wind on Thursday will bring overcast skies, rain and much cooler conditions for Ascension Day. The heaviest rain is expected to fall on the eastern side of the country, while temperatures in some places may drop by 10 to 12 degrees between Wednesday and Thursday.

Weeronline says temperatures are likely to remain in the 16-20 degree range for the weekend, when there will be a mix of sunny spells and showers.
