Bus driver was not smoking marijuana, bus company says
Bus company Arriva has denied that one of its drivers in Tilburg smoked marijuana before setting off on a journey, as claimed by a passenger.
Eyewitness Rory Jonkergouw said on Twitter he had spotted the driver smoking a joint outside the bus and that he then drove off at high speed, hitting traffic cones.
However, after talking to the driver and looking at security camera footage, Arriva said the driver was smoking a cigarette and had driven off in a normal fashion, local broadcaster Omroep Brabant reported.
‘The driver told us he had smoked a cigarette during his break, and that is what the footage shows,’ the company said.
