Spring moves in: warm days ahead with plenty of sunny spells

An area of high pressure is bringing warm, spring weather to the Netherlands in the coming days.

After a cold night, with night frosts in sheltered places, Friday will have the best of the weather, with sun all day over much of the country, although there may be high cloud at times and strong southerly winds in the far north.

The temperature will range from 11 degrees on the Wadden islands to 12 to 16 degrees inland. Friday night will be clear but the temperature will remain around five or six degrees.

Saturday will also be a sunny day, with temperatures of between 18 and 21 degrees inland and in the south.

Cloud will gather from the west in the evening and remain into Sunday, but there will be plenty of sunny spells as well although there may be some light showers in the west. Temperatures will again reach as high as 20 degrees on the eastern borders.

The KNMI weather bureau sees little change into next week and beyond, with sunny spells and the risk of light showers. Temperatures will remain in the 15 to 19 degree range.
