Police investigating two attacks on gay men in Dordrecht at the weekend have arrested a 14-year-old boy in connection with the incidents.

The two men had both made appointments via the gay dating site Grindr. One was beaten up by a gang of youths when he turned up for his date. The second managed to get away and escaped injury.

The police said in a short statement on Tuesday they suspect the 14-year-old to be part of a larger group involved in the attacks and that more arrests will follow.

They have also urged other men who were attacked after making a date via Grindr to come forward.

According to the Telegraaf, the youths responsible for the attack hang round the local football club, smoking marijuana and causing trouble until late at night.

Most of the youths are ‘of Dutch origin’, the paper said.
