The first ever Dutch-made programming for Netflix will be a horror film based on modern students who open a way into the ‘a demonic world’ from the 17th century.

‘Some rules are not meant to be broken. In the liberal city of Amsterdam, these Dutch students have it all: youth, wealth, sex, power… and the portal to a demonic world from the Dutch Golden Age they opened by accident,’ the Netflix press release states.

The show will be launched globally on Netflix in 2019 and will consist of 8×30 minute episodes.

‘I’m looking forward to creating a series that combines two genres: coming of age and horror,’ said the show’s producer Pieter Kuijpers. ‘In a subtle way the series points to the ruthless past our Dutch wealth is based upon.’
