KLM cancels more flights to Bali as volcano uncertainty continues

KLM cancelled more flights to Bali on Tuesday as the main airport remained closed because of the eruption of volcano Mount Agung.

The volcano is spewing clouds of ash reaching up to nine kilometres into the sky and some 100,000 locals living in the danger zone have been told to evacuate the area.

It is unclear how many Dutch nationals and Netherlands’ based tourists are in Bali, but travel companies TUI and Kras have some 400 holidaymakers on Bali and Lombok. They are staying well away from the danger zone, TUI said.

A further 40 Corendon clients are also stranded, broadcaster NOS said.
