Vets fees vary greatly, are higher in the big four cities
There are wide variations in the prices charged by vets who specialise in family pets, according to a website set up to compare prices nationwide.
The website, Dierenartskiezen.nl, looked at the price of castration, sterilisation and the most common vaccinations and found fees in the four big cities some 10% higher on average than elsewhere.
The biggest difference was in the cost of castrating a large dog, which ranged from €225 at a vets practice in Berlicum to €595 in Hillegom.
