A Dutch furniture store does not have to deliver a wooden bed to thousands of consumers for the price of just €24.95, judges have decided.

Thousands of people ordered the bed after a website glitch led to budget furniture retailer Leen Bakker advertising them for €25.  According to some reports, up to 40,000 people rushed to snap up the bargain beds, ordering 61,000 between them.

But judges said on Monday that the company does not have to deliver the beds because it is clear that the price was a mistake. The original price of the beds is €319.

In total, 600 buyers ended up taking the issue to court.
