Amsterdam and Rotterdam to get first Dutch 4D cinemas
The Pathé cinema group is opening its first Dutch ‘4D’ theatres this December, complete with moving chairs, weather simulation and smells. The technology will be introduced at the Pathé De Munt cinema in central Amstedam and Pathé de Kuip in Rotterdam
The 4DX technology adds 20 different elements to films, from the wind and fog to moving in time with the on-screen motion. The screen rooms will have around 150 seats and tickets will be slightly more expensive than for regular films, according to Bright.nl.
Website Boxofficepro says more than 370 major Hollywood films have been released as 4DX recordings.
