Schiphol parking fees soar in preparation for new terminal
Parking fees at Amsterdam’s Schiphol airport are to increase by an average 10% as of 1 October, the Telegraaf has reported. Moreover, cars parked for more than two days at the P1 parking lot immediately adjacent to the terminal will incur a ‘fine’ of €100 per day, the paper said.
Parking at the airport is being overhauled to make room for a new terminal to accommodate the expected higher passenger numbers after 2023.
Car park P2 will go and a total of 3,000 parking spaces within walking distance of the check-in desks are to be eliminated. However, the P1 lot will be increased in size at the site of the old Hilton hotel, a spokesman said.
‘In addition, we offer valet parking – P6 – where a car can be dropped off at similar rates to P1,’ he told the paper.
Holidaymakers are advised to make use of long-term lot P3 which offers covered as well as uncovered parking. A shuttle bus connects to the departures hall every 10 minutes. Parking for a week costs from between €60 and €70. P3 will also be extended in 2018.
