De Boer sacked by English side Crystal Palace after 77 days

Former Netherlands international Frank de Boer has been dismissed as manager of English Premier League side Crystal Palace after just 77 days.

De Boer’s departure was confirmed on the London club’s official website on Monday, following a weekend of speculation. Palace have lost all four league games of the new season without scoring a goal.

In a short official statement, the club said: ‘We would like to thank Frank for his dedication and hard work during his time at the club. A new manager will be appointed in due course and we wish Frank the very best of luck for the future.’

De Boer’s previous managerial role was equally ill-fated when he lasted just 85 days at Italian side Inter Milan. Prior to that he coached Ajax for nearly six years, winning four Eredivisie titles. As a defender he won 112 caps for Oranje and played in the 1994 and 1998 World Cup finals tournaments.
