NS gives in, railway departures boards will make a come-back

Dutch railway company NS has given in to passenger protests and will bring back the large departure boards at four of the country’s main railway stations.
The boards – which give an overview of all departing trains in the coming period -were removed from station halls in the four big cities several years ago and replaced by smaller, electronic notice boards.
Officials are currently working out exactly where the boards should be placed, but they should be up and running in 2018, NS said.
In The Hague NS workers also began a campaign for the return of the boards because so many travellers complained about the small electronic signage on individual platforms, according to broadcaster NOS.
