The Amsterdammer who was arrested outside Eindhoven’s football stadium during a concert by Guus Meeus on Friday has been remanded in custody for several more days.

The man, who is 29 and is said to have been ‘radicalised’, was arrested for filming outside the stadium without having a valid reason. The arrest led to a major security scare and Meeus was asked by police to stretch out his concert while extra police were drafted in and other measures were taken.

The public prosecution department said on Tuesday that the investigation into the man’s motives is proceeding but that no more details would be made public.

The man’s home has been searched and he is being held in isolation, with contact limited to his lawyer.

Meanwhile, police in Amsterdam have released the man who drove into several people outside Amsterdam’s main railway station on Saturday night.

The public prosecution department has not yet decided if he should face charges. However, the man was earlier spotted driving at high speed over the tram tracks at the Rembrandtplein and at other locations in the city.

The man, who has diabetes and a very low blood sugar count, says he remembers nothing of the incident, or how he got to the station.
