With Ajax coach Peter Bosz confirmed to be heading for Germany, speculation has now begun about who will succeed him in Amsterdam.

Bosz only joined Ajax last year when he took over from Frank de Boer and had a contract to run until 2019.

After losing the Europa League final 2-0 to Manchester United, Bosz told reporters that he had no plans to leave Ajax. However, Dutch papers said on Tuesday that Bosz is embroiled in a major conflict with other trainers at the club, prompting his departure.

Football commentator Frank Snoeks says Erik ten Hag, currently coach at FC Utrecht, is a likely candidate to replace Bosz. Other names being mentioned include German  Roger Schmidt, last with Bayer Leverkusen and, says Snoeks, has a similar style to Bosz.

Jaap Stam, currently at Reading in England, is also considered one to watch. He is by far the favourite in an online poll held by the AD on Tuesday. Ten Hag is second in the poll and Clarence Seedorf third.

The first training session ahead of the new season and Champions League qualification rounds is due to take place in three weeks time.
