Ajax lose first Europa League match against FC Copenhagen
Ajax have all to play for in the second leg of their round of 16 Europa League battle with FC Copenhagen after Thursday night’s 2-1 away defeat.
Ajax fell behind after just 28 seconds but Danish striker Kasper Dolberg levelled in the 32nd minute. A second half header gave Copenhagen the advantage ahead of the return match in Amsterdam next week.
Both teams will be without their captains next Thursday as Mathias Jørgensen and Davy Klaassen are suspended after second yellow cards.
It is 14 years since Ajax, four-time European champions, reached the last eight of a Uefa competition.
