An elderly Iranian couple who had been stranded at Schiphol airport since Saturday because of president Donald Trump’s entry ban, are to be allowed into the US after all.

The couple, two of six Iranian nationals who spent several days in the international transit lounge, are being allowed into the US, broadcaster NOS quoted KLM as saying.

An exception has been made for the couple, who were planning to visit their daughter, but it is not clear on what grounds the exception was made.

The four others, another couple and two students, returned to Iran on Wednesday.
