Ajax to meet Copenhagen in Europa League round of 16

February 24, 2017

Ajax club badgeAmsterdam football club Ajax will meet FC Copenhagen in the round of 16 of this season’s Europa League championships.

The two sides will first meet in Denmark on March 9, with the return leg a week later.

Ajax qualified for the round of 16 on Thursday evening with a 1-0 home win over Legia Warsaw, following a 0-0 draw in the first leg.

Copenhagen won the Danish league last season and are currently 11 points clear this year. Ajax, however, are the last unbeaten side in this year’s Europa League competition.

Copenhagen has eliminated Ajax from competition in both their previous European football meetings.
