Telegraaf Media chops 45 jobs in New Year Eve email
In an email to employees just ahead of the New Year celebrations, the Telegraaf Media Groep announced 45 job cuts at its regional newspapers, the Financieele Dagblad reported on Monday.
The job cuts represent 25% of the editorial staff at the newspapers involved which include the Noordhollands Dagblad and the Haarlems Dagblad.
TMG said last summer it would close the regional editorial centre in Alkmaar and move operations and jobs to Amsterdam where the editorial staff of both the Telegraaf and free daily Metro are located. In addition, 75 advertising sales jobs are being eliminated.
The Belgian-based Vlaams Mediahuis, which already owns Dutch dailies NRC Handelsblad and De Limburger, made a bid for TMG in mid-December.
