Russian diplomats lead list of those who don’t pay parking fines

Russian, Georgian and Afghan diplomats remain the least likely to pay parking fines, the AD reported on Thursday.

In total, diplomats owe The Hague city council some €31,000 in surcharges for unpaid parking fees, the paper said. The figures come from council officials in answer to questions from a local populist party.

Malaysia, Pakistan, Tunisia, Nigeria and Sudan also feature on the list of bad payers. China, which was second two years ago, has now dropped out of the top 10, the AD said.

In total, diplomats refused to pay 463 parking fines in The Hague last year. They cannot be forced to pay because they are covered by the Geneva Convention on diplomatic immunity.
