Motorists waste 60 million hours stuck in jams on Dutch roads

Motorists wasted an estimated 60 million hours stuck in traffic jams on the Dutch roads last year, according to traffic information service VID.
Last week the VID said traffic congestion had increased 10% last year. ‘Despite the good weather – it rained much less during rush hours in 2016 – there was a sharp rise in the number of jams,’ spokesman Patrick Potgraven told the Telegraaf.
‘We’ve added all the jams up and come up with a new top 50 – with a new number one, the slip road from the A4 at Zoeterwoude-Dorp near Leiden,’ he said.
The pressure of traffic on that stretch of the A4 heading for Amsterdam has gone up almost 225% since 2010, the VID says.
