Code orange weather warning for the Netherlands ahead of snow and black ice
The KNMI weather bureau on Friday issued a code orange weather warning for the entire country, saying snow and black ice will cause major problems tonight and on Saturday.
Road users are being warned that conditions are likely to be treacherous as overnight snow and sleet hit the frozen roads.
Up to three centimetres of snow will fall in western parts of the country on Friday evening and the snow will move eastwards overnight, the KNMI said.
Temperatures will begin to rise during the day on Saturday but black ice is likely to remain a problem, particularly on quieter roads and in the south.
