Belgian firm Mediahuis bids to take over the Telegraaf
Belgian publishing house Mediahuis has made an offer for the Telegraaf Media Group with the aim of taking a controlling stake in the company.
Mediahuis already owns the NRC and NRC.next and recently took over regional papers Dagblad De Limburger and the Limburgs Dagblad.
According to the Financieele Dagblad, the Belgian firm has offered €5.25 a share for TMG which is bourse-listed and currently trading at around €3.50.
If the takeover goes through, all the big Dutch papers will be in Belgian hands. The Persgroep owns the AD, Volkskrant, Trouw and a string of regional papers.
