Most men who train as primary school teachers don’t teach

Close up of male hand writing on a blackboard with copy space foMore than six in 10 men who complete a primary school teacher training programme do not go on to become teachers, as do four in 10 women, the national statistics office CBS said on Wednesday.

Men who train as teachers often remain in education and go on to become managers or educational advisors, the CBS said.

The number of men attending teacher training college has been rising and they now account for one in five places. However, the number of men in schools is going down, the CBS said.
