Summer is set to return to the Netherlands on Friday with warm dry weather, weather bureaus said on Wednesday.

There will be heavy showers in the south on Wednesday afternoon but in the north it will be a sunny evening, Weerplaza said.

Thursday will also be changeable, with both sun and showers and a maximum temperature of around 20 degrees.

Friday and over the weekend, forecasters expect it will be predominantly sunny with temperatures rising up to 25 degrees. By Tuesday, however, the rain could be back again.

According to the KNMI long range forecast, the changeable weather is set to continue well into August, but temperatures will remain average for the time of year at around 20 Celsius.
