Former international Ruud Gullit is to replace Dick Advocaat as assistant coach for the Dutch national team, Dutch media said on Monday.

Gullit, who has 66 caps for Oranje, told the Telegraaf on Sunday he had been personally sounded out by coach Danny Blind and that the final details are now being worked out. The KNVB has not responded officially.

Gullit, who has coached at Chelsea, Feyenoord and LA Galaxy in the US, has never been involved with the national squad but has now been drafted in following Advocaat’s surprise decision to move to Turkey.

Meanwhile, Barcelona have reportedly agreed a deal with Ajax to sign goalkeeper Jasper Cillessen. Cillessen – a 27-year-old Netherlands international who has been with the Dutch club for five years – was not part of the team which lost at home to Willem II on Saturday.

According to the Telegraaf, Ajax have approached Newcastle’s Dutch keeper Tim Krul to replace him. According to the Daily Mail, Krul will sign a new one-year deal with Newcastle and then move to Ajax on loan.
