Olympic round up: Gold for rowing duo, windsurfer
There were two more gold medals for the Netherlands at the Rio Olympics on Friday, taking the Dutch medal tally to seven.
Maaike Head and Ilse Paulis won gold in the women’s lightweight double sculls, finishing in seven minutes 4.73, just 1.1 seconds ahead of silver medal winners Canada. China was in third place.
This is the Netherlands’ second rowing medal. On Thursday the Dutch women’s quadruple sculls won silver.
Meanwhile, windsurfer Dorian van Rijsselberghe secured a gold by outstripping the competition ahead of the medal race on Sunday.
Van Rijsselberghe was defending the title he won in London four years ago. Britain’s Nick Dempsey won silver, as he did in 2012.
