Man wanted by Canada in webcam blackmail case can be extradited, court says
Judges in Amsterdam have decided that a man wanted in Canada in connection with the suicide of a Canadian teenager can be extradited, once his Dutch trial has been completed.
Aydin C is on trial in the Netherlands for blackmailing dozens of girls after making sex videos of them.
C has been in custody for two years on suspicion of abusing up to 40 girls online. One of C’s victims is said to be 15-year-old Canadian girl Amanda Todd who killed herself in October 2012 after a film featuring her was circulated on YouTube.
The Dutch case will not be heard until the autumn at least because C has had to find a new lawyer. However, it could be next year before formal hearings start, news agency ANP said.
