Dead baby found in Amsterdam was a boy, police say
The dead baby found in a bag in the west of Amsterdam earlier this week was a full-term boy, police said after making an initial investigation.
The child had been dressed, placed in a bag and left on the banks of the Sloterplaas lake where it was found by a man out walking his dog. Police have not yet said how the child died or how long he had been in the bag.
Police are now appealing for witnesses to the dumping and if anyone knows of someone who was very pregnant but now has no baby. They are also appealing to health workers for possible information.
Every year one or two dead babies are found dumped in the Netherlands.
