Household goods chain Scheer en Foppen has become the latest Dutch retail group to go bust.

Scheer en Foppen has 55 shops in northern, eastern and central parts of the country and a number of webshops. The shops will remain open while the official receivers decide what is the best action to take but redundancy has already been requested for the 475 members of staff.

A number of Dutch white goods stores have gone bust in the past few years, including Megapool, It’s, Dynabite, Dixons, Harense Smid and Mikro-Electro, the Financieele Dagblad reported.

The sector is currently dominated by BCC with 75 high street stores and Media Markt with 51.
