Whitsun holiday weekend set to be coldest in 15 years
After last week’s sunshine and record-breaking temperatures, the Whitsun holiday weekend is set to be the coldest in 15 years, weather bureaus said on Wednesday.
On Saturday and Sunday the temperature will go down to as low as 12 degrees, before rising slightly to 15 degrees on Monday. This will make it the coldest Whitsun weekend since 2001, Weeronline said. The average temperature in mid May is around 18 degrees.
‘The wind is going to change. Last week we had warm air from the southeast and east and this weekend the wind will turn to the north,’ Weerplaza meteorologist Raymond Klaassen told website Nu.nl.
The northerly wind will bring cold sea air to the Netherlands, Klaassen said. It will get warmer again towards the end of next week.
