Airline Air France-KLM has managed to improve its results in the first quarter of the year, booking a loss of €155m compared with a loss of €559m in the first quarter of 2015.

Sales rose 0.4% to €5.6bn, but were down 1.3% excluding currency effects. The figures do not include the airline’s catering division Servair, which is up for sale.

Passenger numbers rose 4.6%, most of which was due to the Dutch flag carrier KLM. Last week, KLM began a new round of pay talks with staff which will include a continued efficiency drive.
