Group fined €67,500 for illegal film downloads

A group of people calling themself 2Lions-Team and offered illegal downloads of new films such as Leonardo DeCaprio’s The Revenant have been ordered to pay €67,500 in damages to anti-piracy lobby group Stichting Brein.

The gang offered thousands of films and television series via sites such as The Pirate Bay and Extra Torrent. They also included illegal subtitles on their products.

The cases were heard in courts in Groningen, Noord-Holland and The Hague.
