Woman faces prosecution for overdosing girlfriend with GHB
A 33-year-old woman is to be prosecuted after all for giving her girlfriend a lethal dose of the date rape drug GHB, even though police said earlier there is no evidence of a crime.
The woman, from Nederhorst den Berg near Hilversum, is said to have failed to exercise sufficient care when giving Saskia Jacobs the drug, possibly at a party, RTL reports.
The dead woman’s parents said at the time of her death at the end of March last year they believed their daughter had been drugged against her will.
Accidental overdose
The suspect was first arrested last April in connection with the death but later released. However, research by the Dutch forensic institute led later to the discovery of other ‘indications’, prompting the new arrest, the broadcaster quotes a police spokesman as saying.
In a statement, the public prosecution department said it believed the woman had given the drug to her girlfriend and had not been careful enough, giving her an accidental overdose.
There are no indications the woman was forced to take the drug, the statement said.
