Ice and snow may hit the rest of the Netherlands this week

Deer in the snow, NetherlandsColder air is set to move into the Netherlands later this week, bringing frost and possibly snow, weather forecasters said on Monday.

Snow or sleet is most likely on Wednesday as temperatures drop, weather website Weerplaza said. ‘The coldest air is expected next weekend, with temperatures close to freezing point during the day and frost at night,’ Weerplaza’s Michiel Severin is quoted as saying by the AD.

Weerplaza expects the weekend to be dry and sunny with little wind, making ice more likely. By contrast, the KNMI weather bureau says Friday is the most likely day for snow and that there will be light rain at the weekend.

Poll

Most people are not looking forward to the prospect of colder weather. In a poll of 18,000 people on Weerplaza’s website. 63% said ‘no’ when asked if they were looking forward to a real winter.
