All Dutch Michelin restaurants retain their stars

Restaurant-De-Librije-All the Dutch restaurants listed in last year’s Michelin guide have retained their stars in the new ranking, the organisation said on Monday.

It is extremely unusual for no restaurant to lose its stars in between issues of the famous gastronomy guide, international director Michael Ellis told broadcaster Nos.

Dutch cuisine is ‘very product focused,’ he said. In addition there is a trend in the Netherlands towards more casual dining.

Restaurants De Librije in Zwolle and De Leest in the Overijssel village of Vaassen have retained their three stars. De Groene Lantaarn in Zuidwolde is elevated to two-star status, bringing the total number of two-star restaurants in the Netherlands to 20.

Seven restaurants make their debut in the new guide, bringing the total one-star eateries to 85. Of them, three are part of a hotel.
